Najwa Shihab's husband Ibrahim Sjarief Assegaf passes away

Tuesday, 20 May 2025 - Sad news came from the world of Indonesian journalism. The husband of senior journalist Najwa Shihab, Ibrahim Sjarief bin Husein Ibrahim Assegaf, passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at 2:29 pm at the National Brain Center Hospital (RS PON), East Jakarta.

Ibrahim died of a stroke that caused a brain hemorrhage. He underwent intensive care before finally passing away. The body of the deceased was laid to rest at the family residence in the Jeruk Purut area, East Cilandak, South Jakarta. Tahlil is planned to be held tonight, and the funeral will take place on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at 10:00 WIB at the Jeruk Purut Public Cemetery (TPU).

Najwa Shihab's family asks for prayers and sincerity from the community, and asks that the deceased be forgiven for all mistakes during his lifetime.

Ibrahim Sjarief Assegaf is known as a figure who plays a role in the world of law and education in Indonesia. He co-founded the Indonesian Center for Law and Policy Studies (PSHK) and serves as President Commissioner at Narasi, the media company founded by Najwa Shihab.

Ibrahim's passing left deep sorrow for his family, friends and colleagues. Condolences flowed from various circles, including national figures who attended the funeral home.
